The axle is a 20mm through axle. Steerer tube is 7.3/4" long.

I sold that bike around 10/2006. But it had a disk brake mount already on it i'm pretty sure.All i needed was the adapter.

Nope.Manitiou is not compatable with my bike.I have hardware to fit industry standard 1/2" eyelits.Not Manitiou sizing.I'm not tracking down different hardware & having two sets for two different shocks.I run Fox coils.

Probably my guess is so his axle won't slip in the dropouts & he can ram the wheel into the dropouts & have it set. Horizontal dropouts can be a pain in the azz.
